Hyundai Motorsport has selected Winmax Brake Pads for its brand-new New Generation i20 R5! The team has tried out many compounds during its tests to ensure the brakes would respond to their high quality requirements. In the end, they decided to go for a compound that will exclusively be produced for the Hyundai i20 R5 by Winmax in Japan.
Andrea Adamo, Customer Racing department manager : “We built the Hyundai i20 R5 to be very competitive and we were looking for a brake pad that could meet the challenge. We already had had very good experience with Winmax on our i20 WRC car and during our trials, we got convinced about the quality of the product. So all i20 R5 cars that will be built for our customers will be equipped with Winmax Brake Pads. Afterwards, the pads will be available through our Customer Racing Department.”
Dirk Van der Sluys, Winmax Europe : “Winmax is not very well known in Europe yet as we are only active since two years on this market. The Hyundai i20 R5 has been extensively tested on gravel and tarmac and will make its first public appearance at the Ypres Rally 2016 on 23 - 25 June as a course car. Being one of the main events on the ERC calendar, many R5 cars come to Ypres every year. It is hence the perfect place to show the New Generation i20 R5 with its Winmax Brake Pads to the fans, media and drivers. Official Hyundai test driver Kevin Abbring will be behind the wheel of the R5 in Ypres.
